Tapes can can be dropped off at our facility by appointment or posted to us.
In-House Transfers
All our tape transfers are completed in-house in our Newcastle facility typically within 1 week. Unlike many online providers we don’t send them off elsehwere!
Professional Tape Transfers
We can transfer many formats including all PAL variants of Betacam, U-matic and DV-CAM to ProRes 422HQ for archiving and editing.
Your tapes are put into a professional broadcasting deck, adjusting it to suit the tape and recorded to an intermediate broadcast quality file (ProRes) to capture all of the image quality.
In the next step we ingest the files into our Davinci edit system, this is where we make further adjustments and render the file out to a best quality MP4 file or ProRes 422HQ or DNx HD format
Most Tape Formats Supported
Formats include Hi8, 8mm, DV both Mini and Large, HDV, VHS-C, VHS, SVHS, DV CAM, Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, U-Matic, Micro MV. If you are not sure of the format of your tapes, that is no problem. Get in touch on 0191 286 9800 where we will be happy to advise you.
Scaling to HD and UHD
We can also upscale SD and HD video through the Teranex and record 10bit ProRes or MP4 files for improved viewing or edit ready files for archive tapes.
This is a service tailored to both the general public and video professionals, please note you must own the copyright on any recordings you submit for transfer.
Tape Repairs – Snapped tapes or shattered cassette shells are generally recoverable. We can repair your tapes, including splicing, removing mangled sections or re-shelling, costs for this service start from £5.
